Faresmaathoda airport officially inaugurated by HEP Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.
The project was awarded to Maldives Transport and Contracting Company on 10 November 2020. The detail design of the airport has been completed by MTCC staff in accordance with the design of the Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure.
Under the scope of the Faresmathoda Airport Project, a 1200 meter long and 30 meter wide runway has been constructed for Dash 8-300 critical aircraft standard. An aircraft rescue and fire fighting building, including an air traffic control tower, has been installed and the night flight operation facilities required for the airport have also been installed.
The airport will provide a permanent solution to the air transportation problems faced by the people of Huvadu Atoll and especially the four islands nearest to the airport.
Minister of National Planning Housing and Infrastructure along with Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation graced the ceremony.
