President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih inaugurates Addu City, Meedhoo Harbor

Addu City,
Meedhoo harbor has been officially inaugurated by President Ibrahim Mohamed
Solih.
The project
contracted to Maldives Transport and Contracting Company PLC (MTCC) was
completed and officially handed over to the Addu City Council by the Minister
of State, Shifaz Ali.
Under this project,
harbor and channel dredging was done as well as erecting bridge from quay wall
and breakwater. Along with a ramp, a pavement surrounding the quay wall, building
a pavement at the harbor and a water drainage settlement tank for the pavement
will be installed. Furthermore, additional work to the contract includes
changing the breakwater to a sand filled breakwater at the Meedhoo harbor with a
125-meter quay wall. A pavement will also be built at the harbor with a 10-meter
geo bag revetment and 7 lights.
The contract
for this project was signed on 23rd June 2019 with a budget of MVR 35,436,107.38.
A variation of MVR 36,516,251.78 was added to the project after some additional
work on the harbor.
