The National Planning Council discussed the classification of Inhabited Islands in it's 60th, 61st and 62nd meetings (August 16th, 18th and 23rd). As per the Decentralization Law (7/2010), the President is required to announce an official list of inhabited islands in order for the local Council Election to be held in November 2010. The Council discussed a possible criteria for determining inhabited islands and also considered the options under which islands can be grouped together as a single administration. At the 61st meeting, representatives from Ministry of Home Affairs and The Presindent's office, as well as individuals who have considerable experience in field, were invited to attend the council meeting to provide insight of their experience and knowledge on the issue. At the 63rd meeting the council met with the comittee selected by the Cabinet for this issue, and the comittee members provided feedback on the work done so far.
